Slope-intercept form

Straight-line equations are also called "linear" equations. Linear equations have simple variable expressions with no exponents on them.

There are different types of "standard" formats for straight lines. The most common form of straight-line equations is the "slope-intercept" form:

y = mx + b

In the above equation, "m" is the slope and "b" gives the y-intercept of the straight line.
